The future of work is changing!
Previous research has shown that as many as 375 million workers globally might have to change occupations in the next decade to meet companies’ needs and that automation could free employees to spend as much as 30 percent of their time on new work.1
Now, in a new McKinsey Global Survey on future workforce needs, nearly nine in ten executives and managers say their organizations either face skill gaps already or expect gaps to develop within the next five years.2
2. The online survey was in the field from May 14 to May 24, 2019, and garnered responses from 1,216 participants representing the full range of regions, industries, company sizes, functional specialties, and tenures.

Skill Gaps loom large in every industry.
Students are thrilled that their results are fantastic, they have a certificate in hand and are rearing to go.
However, employers or hiring managers fail to acknowledge this and research indicates that 50- 75 % managers feel graduates are not skilled enough for their job role.
One of the areas where there are problems emerging is in education. The overall level of education is high – a recent OECD report shows there are more graduates than non-graduates in the job market. However, employers are seeing gaps in areas such as basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.

A humanistic design thinking process indicates that school leadership must empathise with students and the future they would face. Preparation for careers in the future requires nurturing of skills through education at School.
Hard and Soft Skills need to be nurtured in school and become a habit of the mind.
According to Kallick and Costa, the Habits of Mind are less about behavior and more about intent.
A “Habit of Mind” means having a disposition toward behaving intelligently when confronted with problems, the answers to which are not immediately known. When humans experience dichotomies, are confused by dilemmas, or come face to face with uncertainties–our most effective actions require drawing forth certain patterns of intellectual behavior. When we draw upon these intellectual resources, the results that are produced are more powerful, of higher quality, and greater significance than if we fail to employ those patterns of intellectual behaviors.

What’s NCFE Doing?
· Problem-based learning and project-based learning provide a rich opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge, expand their repertoire of technical skills, and enhance their appreciation of thinking tools, processes, and strategies
· Skill Based learning is built into the lesson plans and students imbibe these skills naturally as a matter of habit
· CBSE Skill Hub and Nodal Training Centre For Vocational Education introduced by CBSE and National Skill Development Corporation, Government of India under the PMKVY 3.0
· Career Forward Focus 3.0 that comprises identification of interest, skill and nurtures students to prepare for life beyond school
· Skills that include curricular and co- curricular are listed and developed over the years of education keeping in mind age appropriateness.

What can Parents do?
. Encourage students to participate in the Skill Hub and develop their vocational skills
. Encourage students to be take up Career Guidance for the benefit of their careers

· Participate in activities hosted by the school
· Reach out for any lack if information with regard to initiatives
· Recollect Parent Orientations
