As a reminder, the latest Territory, which recently made landfall on local shores, is the product of a joint venture between Ford and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), who manufactures the midsize SUV at its Nanchang-based facility in China. The Territory is exported to several global markets, which include South America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific markets, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Noteworthy, South Africa was the first country where the Territory was launched in a right-hand-drive configuration.
In addition, for the local Territory line-up, which comprises three derivatives, Ford SA has opted for a 1.8-litre EcoBoost engine instead of the 1.5-litre unit employed by models sold in other countries. The 1.8-litre, turbocharged petrol powertrain produces 138 kW and 318 N.m of torque, exclusively sent to the front axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Ford claims the four-cylinder unit sips, on average, 7.0 L/100 km.
