For some reason, the automotive world has always been infatuated with blending the borders between road-driven vehicles and flight. There have been attempts in the past, some with more success than others and now it seems Elon Musk and his next-generation Tesla Roadster will endeavour for the same goal.

Musk described the Cybertruck as a ‘once-a-decade product’, asserting that over a million orders had been placed since its release at the end of last year. Asked how the company plans on surpassing the popular Cybertruck, Musk hinted that the Roadster would certainly exceed expectations.
Prior to the interview on X, Musk had made it public that the next iteration model of the nameplate would have some features “that have never existed before” on a car courtesy of a collaboration with SpaceX. When asked if this would yield a flying car by the interviewer, Musk clamoured up before responding with “maybe” and “it is not out of the question.” Prying slightly further, Musk mentioned it wouldn’t have big wings, nor propellers and that it would do away with a conventional steering wheel in favour of a drive-by-wire yoke system which in Musk’s words “is kinda like the way modern-day aircraft are controlled.”
Playing it coy, Musk added that the collaboration between his two entities would create something that “is not really even a car” and he believes no other companies would ever dare to make something like the pending Roadster ever again. Regardless of what it is, he further added that it will have the ability to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in less than a second. Expected to break cover in 2025, the nameplate which was birthed in 2008 is undeniably being touted by Musk as a revolutionary piece of motoring.
